06/3/04 - I can't believe that it's already June!! Thanks again to all who keep praying for all of us. We walk and talk because you pray!! I am feeling great w/o my gall bladder. who needs it anyway? We have Jacob again this weekend. It's always good to have him home & still hard to send him back. He still cries & hides in his shirt when he's close to his other house, but otherwise the time with us has been good. We've had no bad reports from school or home. We're due for yet another meeting with the Regional Center (this is the State agency that monitors homes like Willow Glen & help find services for kids like Jacob - if you know of anyone who ever needs help w/ any diagnosis, services, etc - always have them start with their local regional center & their school districts) It should go well - we're just reviewing his progress and the goals that have been laid out for him. We've learned that leaving San Jose by 1pm makes for a much better commute home. We can make it home by 3:30 whereas if we leave at 2pm, we get home by 5:30 or 6pm. Again - thanks all for your love!! xxoo Trucie, Mike, Jacob & Debra 04/02/04 - Yeah - Jacob is home again this weekend. He doing well at his other house (Willow Glen) & at school too. His IEP went well this week. Mike & I were both impressed with their efficiency & their desire to do well for Jacob w/o complaining about costs etc. The Santa Clara Co. Rep. (Dave Voyteck) was there & very helpful and signed off on everything. He'll have a 1/1 aid in the classroom (his name is Ian). He'll get 2 hours of OT & 2 hours of Speech each week. We'll be trying to strenghthen his use of PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System) & then work towards getting him a speech device (a portable computer of sorts w/ a touch screen & symbols that will "talk" for him). The staff at his school (PACE) are genuinely concerned for his wellbeing & future ablities & are some of the kindest people we've encountered in a school setting. Thanks so much for all the praying & support you've given us. You are loved!! xxoo Trucie, Mike, Jacob & Deb Greetings All - Just a quick update on Jacob & us and our adjustments to life in separate cities. Jacob - seems to be adjusting according to what we expected. He has some good days & some periods of sadness & crying. He is due for his Individual Education Plan (IEP - this is where school, parents, & care-home get together & make goals for Jacob to meet during the school year based on his current skills & weaknesses & what direction we, as a group, want to see him go) on March 29. Please pray for all of us in this process that we'll be able to plan well for him & that he'll be able to reach those goals. Debra - Was very excited to be a part of the praise team. We're so thankful for a church community that allows for kids to participate in a meaningful way. She's doing well in school & enjoys the extra time with us. I can now walk her to class, or ride bike with her to school, or whatever - that I couldn't do before because I was constantly driving Jacob somewhere. Trucie - is hanging in there. I'm still trying to get to all of the undone projects in the house. I'm trying to spend more time at church to do a better job. It still is the hardest thing we've ever done - so I thank you for all your love support & prayers. Mike - Is also hanging in there. We actually had someone say that our home was peaceful. That was a first :) We find it oddly quiet. Mike enjoys his dad time with both kids & is great with each one. He'll be gearing up for planting season (rice) soon & so he'll be in the fields more than he'll be in the house. Please pray for strength & endurance to get through this season. He's enjoying his new role in the church as deacon. Please continue to pray that he'll be able to serve the church as God wants him to. Thanks too for all your love and support.
